Brian Hayward was a steady and accomplished goaltender known for his consistency, intelligence, and strong play during a lengthy professional career. A three-time William M. Jennings Trophy winner with the Montreal Canadiens, he was part of one of the NHL’s top goaltending tandems of the late 1980s and later made history by recording the first regular-season win in San Jose Sharks franchise history.
